VACUFLO Central Vacuum Installation

Central vacuum systems can be installed in both new construction as well as existing homes. For retrofits, your central vacuum system can usually be installed in less then a day with no structural modifications needed!  Central Vacuum tubing is run through the walls in your house to strategically placed inlet valves. The valves will provide you complete access to all your living space with your central vacuum hose. The power unit will then be installed in a basement, garage or utility room.

Installation is hassle free! We follow ASTM standards to make sure the system is installed correctly.  Our experienced staff will provide quality, professional installation in your new construction or existing structures.

Central Vacuum Hose Management Solutions

Your customers want products that make their lives easier and more convenient. They look to you as the expert for these types of amenities for their home.

While standard central vacuums are more powerful and convenient then portable vacuums, some users do not like managing the bulky hose.

Imagine offering a product where your homeowner did not have to go to the closet and get that cumbersome hose. They just flip open a valve on the wall and pull out as much hose as needed! Or, open a cabinet and clean their daily messes as they happen!

Offer your homebuyers the ultimate in whole-house cleaning convenience — VACUFLO’s line of hose management products including Hide-A-Hose, Vroom and Spot. These products provide hose at hand convenience for all cleaning applications!

Hide-A-Hose
Hide-A-Hose is a space-saving retractable hose system that stores up to 50 feet of central vacuum hose in the tubing within the wall.

With the Hide-A-Hose system, you simply pull out the length of hose needed for the cleaning job, connect a TurboCat powerhead, and begin vacuuming. When finished, the system uses the suction from the VACUFLO central vacuum power unit to retract the hose back into the PVC tubing installed within the walls of the home.

Since each inlet valve has a hose stored within the tubing inside the walls, longer hoses can be used (one hose can cover up to 2,300 square feet), reducing the number of inlets required for whole-house coverage.

No more carrying the hose up and down stairs or from room to room. All you carry is the lightweight hose handle, wand and cleaning tool!

Vroom
Vroom is ideal for quickly cleaning small spaces and dry messes in high traffic areas of your home, such as kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms. Its instant accessibility makes it a great addition to your more-thorough weekly cleaning regimen.

Vroom turns on and off automatically to make cleaning simple – just lift the hose and you’re ready to clean. Features up to 24′ of retractable hose.

Vroom installs neatly inside most standard cabinets so it’s there when you need it, but tucked away out of sight when you don’t. It’s perfect for everyday use, anytime you need to clean a mess fast. Plus, no more lugging around your central  vacuum hose or gathering multiple supplies – broom, sponge or paper towels.

Vroom comes complete with a convertible floor/rug tool and an adjustable wand.

Spot by Vroom
Spot is designed for specific daily messes in the homes. Quick clean spots like the dryer lint screen and the cat litter box with Spot!

Stores up to 10 feet of hose in the wall for convenient “on the spot” cleaning. Remains completely concealed in the wall until you need it.

Easily accessible when vacuuming messes, just lift the lid and pull out the hose – it retracts back into the wall when you’re finished.

Perfect in mudrooms, laundry rooms, and where daily cleanups are needed – by the litter box, by the lint screen, at entrances.

If there are no cabinets available for a Vroom, Spot is a great alternative. Spot comes with a removable dusting brush, and is available in 3 colors to match any décor – white, black and almond.

Build a Healthy Home with VACUFLO Central Vacuums

Your homebuyers want to create a clean and healthy home environment for their family. Many people take their home’s air for granted and assume it is safe, clean and breathable. The problem is, indoor air can be up to 100 times more polluted than outdoor air! Several reasons for this increase include today’s more tightly sealed housing construction, synthetic building materials and furnishings, and chemically formulated household products.

Most people spend 90% of their time indoors. Poor indoor air quality can affect health, safety and comfort – especially in children and the elderly. With powerful motors and no recirculation of particles, VACUFLO central vacuums eliminate 100% of vacuumed dirt, dust and allergens, creating a healthier home with cleaner indoor air.

Leading organizations are talking about how central vacuum systems improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ):

“Using central vacuum systems that are vented to the outdoors can significantly reduce dust mites, pollens, animal dander and other allergy causing agents.” – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

“Central vacuum systems are among the best indoor air quality investments for your home.” – BUILDER Magazine

“Allergy sufferers’ symptoms can be improved up to 61% when using a central vacuum system.” – University of California Davis School of Medicine

“The healthiest type of vacuum to operate is a central vacuum that is vented outdoors.” – The Healthy Home Institute

Central Vacuum Installation FAQ

Does the complete system have to be installed at one time?
No. Some homeowners choose to rough-in the tubing system when a home is being built and then complete the system by adding the power unit and inlet valves at a later time.

Will I need an inlet valve installed in every room?
No. For maximum cleaning convenience and whole-house coverage, inlet valves are strategically placed throughout the home. You can estimate one inlet valve for every 600 square feet of living space. The average home (2000 sq. ft.) would need 4-5 inlets. Sq. ft. of home/600 = # of inlet valves. H-P Central Vacuums provide whole-house cleaning coverage with as few inlet valves as possible. Tubing and low-voltage wiring are run in tandem to each valve location, speeding up installation.

What is the standard height for installing the inlet valve?
Valves are typically mounted at the same height as electrical receptacles.

Where is the power unit typically installed?

The power unit is typically located in a garage, basement or utility room.

How much tubing do I figure per inlet valve?

Each valve will use approximately 20′ of tubing.

When do I use a 90 short elbow vs. a 90 sweep elbow?
A 90 short elbow (also called a 90 adapter elbow) is designed to use at each inlet valve location. The tight 90 acts as a trap for debris that might be too large to pass completely through the tube system. For example, if you vacuumed up a small toy or even a comb, it would most likely get caught in the adapter elbow, preventing the system from a potential clog.

How many square feet will one valve cover?
One valve will cover approximately 600 square feet of living space. This estimate is based on using a standard 30′ hose. If a shorter hose is used, more valves are needed.

Do systems need to be exhausted to exterior?
True Cyclonic Systems must be exhausted outside. Filtered Cyclonic Systems are designed with optional exhaust – the unit can be exhausted outside if desired.

Where do I run the trunk line?

The trunk line will be run either in the basement or in the attic. The trunk line should be run as straight as possible from the power unit location to the farthest inlet valve.

Can I locate the Power Unit in an attic?
We do not recommend placing the power unit in an attic. The attic space may retain heat and cause the motor to experience premature failure. An attic location may also be difficult to reach when the dirt canister needs emptied.

How do I recommend the correct power unit for a specific job?
Each power unit is manufactured with a specific motor to handle a suggested sq. ft. area. All you need to do is figure the homes total square footage and locate the correct power unit on the Performance Specs. These may vary for Hide-A-Hose installations.

What is the longest recommended run of tubing?
Each power unit is different. However, we provide general guidelines in the Vacuflo Installation Guide. The longest run of tubing is the run from the power unit to the farthest inlet valve including the fittings.

Does an electrician need to install the Electravalves?
In most instances, an installer can install the low voltage portion of the Electravalves. Each Electravalve has a 6′ length of 120 v wire that will need hardwired into electrical system by a certified electrician.

Can I use schedule 40 tubing plumbers tubing?
The 2″ PVC central vac tubing is different from plumbing grade tubing. Central vacuum tubing is manufactured with a completely smooth interior to prevent the tube system from catching small dirt particles and building a clog.

How long does it take to install a Central Vacuum System?
Most new home installations can be complete in less than one day.

What is a rough-in?
The rough-in consists of determining valve placement and installing the mounting plate, elbow, and drywall cover (this is called a drop), in the wall. Once the home is ready for completion, the installer will return and run the trunk line, low voltage wiring, connect the inlet valves, and hang the power unit.

Is it possible for objects to get caught in tubing?
It is not likely as long as the tube system is properly installed. Typically any object that can fit through the inlet valve will be sucked through the tubing and end up in the dirt canister.
